Join ASP

If you are thinking of joining, you'll have realised we're here to help each other with our learning, and to transform behaviours from unsustainable to sustainable ways of living.

ASP is a membership organisation; it is the sum total of its members' values, beliefs and actions. People join for different reasons and that diversity is important as it increases the impact, awareness and consciousness of the organisation and expands the human and social capital in the Association.

What ASP means for one of our members, Lucy Fleetwood

"When I first came to ASP I had the mindset that ASP was a 'thing' that did something for its members, but I've come to perceive it differently as I've taken part in it.

ASP seems to offer a doorway through which people can come in order to network for the purpose of changing the world systems and the way we operate within them, into sustainable models and behaviours. It seems to be doing this through collaborations, events, sharing of ideas and resources and reflecting.

If I'm honest I joined for my own reasons to network and find work opportunities. But this changed as I got excited about the amount of people doing such great things. One of the first people I talked to was Joshua of Betterworld Cameroon, I loved the fact that we were working away in different countries but with the same underlying aims and feel convinced that what we are doing will connect at some point, but only if the opportunities for collaboration and connections keep happening and this is what ASP seems to offer."

You can check out the commitment of memberships at Membership Agreement. There's a commitment of time to the organisation and to fellow members (see Membership Agreement).

So if you are considering joining us, reflect for a moment, not just on what you want to gain from your association with us, but also on what it is that you want to contribute to the development and direction of ASP (time? effort? creativity? advocacy? skills? funds? opportunities?...).

We offer you different ways of associating with us that reflect your circumstances.

The principles upon which this is based:
    • we want to stimulate action, engagement, communication, connection and contribution between/from each associate
    • only people can be associates, no corporate "membership". It's people who make decisions and choices and take actions.
    • we want to clearly identify differing levels of value for associates so you can choose the level of association that suits you
    • associates can move freely between levels (but we do not refund any fees)
    • pay-it-forward is a fundamental principle of the Association

    Association Levels

    Full Associate

      Profile

Full Associates are individuals who see a strong affinity between their own beliefs and actions - in both their private and professional activities - and those of ASP. They are people who are PRACTITIONERS and who will contribute pro-actively to the activities, enrichment and development of ASP.

They see the need to create better futures based on sustainable practices and social justice and take actions to make this happen.

Full Associates can collaborate with other associates in their projects and activities.

They believe that they are defined by what they contribute to their community in creating human capital, social capital and creative capital.

While ensuring their own financial security they can also work on a not-JUST-for-profit basis.

They uphold the basic principle of ASP "active and reflective learning" and are willing to help others in their learning.
